Peer Mentoring Services

What is it?

Nobody understands what people with kidney disease are going through as well as people who have gone through the experience themselves.

The Kidney Peer Mentor Service aims to give short term practical and emotional support to people with kidney disease, their families and carers.

One-to-one conversation with a trained Kidney Peer Mentor

  • face to face
  • by telephone.

Works alongside the care/education patients receive from their kidney healthcare team.

This service is open to all people with kidney disease and their families.

How does it work?

If you feel you could benefit from Peer Mentoring, please:

  • speak to the doctor or nurse looking after you
  • email the service directly (address below)

The Kidney Peer Mentor team will arrange for a trained Kidney Peer Mentor to contact you by telephone.

The Peer Mentor will be allocated to you based on their experiences as a person with kidney disease.

Usually, the Peer Mentor will speak to you with or without your family/carer on 1-2 occasions.

Your Peer Mentor might suggest other services or people to contact.
