History and location
The House is named after our former chairman of many years, Mike McAllister, who we sadly lost in 2022. Mike was an enthusiastic supporter of providing holidays for renal patients and their families, and we know he would have been thrilled to see this new property.
The house is about 5 years old and is located on a lovely private estate on the outskirts of Torquay. It’s easily reached from Bristol via the M5 and offers the ideal base for touring round the English Riviera!
Being end of terrace, with parking and garage at the rear, it offers easy access on one level via the back patio doors. There are two play areas for children and a large green space close to the house.
Dialysis while away: CAPD deliveries, before your arrival, are possible and haemodialysis can be organised at a nearby renal unit.
The ground floor
The ground floor has a cloakroom, lounge and large kitchen diner and opens out onto a back garden. The lounge has television with DVD player.
The kitchen
The kitchen is fully fitted with everything needed to provide a self-catering holiday including a full range of cooking utensils, crockery and glassware. It has a fan assisted oven and grill, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer, as well as microwave oven, kettle and a four slice toaster. The dining table can seat up to 6 people. There is also a portable radio in the kitchen.
Upstairs
There are 3 bedrooms (two with double beds and one small bedroom with two stacking single beds) and a bathroom with shower. Duvets and pillows are provided.
There is a television in the second bedroom.
All rooms are…
…fully furnished. There is full gas central heating and a mixture of laminate flooring and fitted carpets throughout.
Members welcome
You will need to be a full member of BAKPA to book the use of the house, and for legal reasons all those age 16 or over who accompany you will also need to join BAKPA.
