Team Bristol are a multi sports group primarily, but not exclusively comprising of kidney transplant recipients who have been treated at Southmead hospital. We also have members with stem cell transplants received in Bristol and others who have received their kidney or other transplant elsewhere.

The team competes in the annual 4 day British Transplant Games. Many of our team are also regular selections for the GB national squad and compete in the World Games every two years.
We are a highly successful team and one of the largest in the country. We even count a couple of world record holders in our number.

You don’t have to be ultra sporty or talented, all are welcome and ability levels vary widely. The competition is split into age categories so you will always be competing against those of a similar vintage. The Bristol team ranges in age from 18 to 80!
There is a full sports program over the four days with something for everyone, some of the events are listed below:

- Swimming-full day swimming gala
- Track and field-full day of athletics and field events
- Rackets-badminton, tennis, squash and table tennis
- Cycling -5k TT, archery, golf
- Snooker, lawn bowls, Darts, fishing and much more!
To compete you must be in reasonable health with a functioning transplant, you must have received your transplant not less than 6 months prior to the opening day of the games. It is also necessary to join TSUK the governing body of Transplant Sport in the UK, details on this and discounted offers for recent recipients can be found on the TSUK link. transplantsport.org.uk
