The Bristol team numbered 27 athletes drawn from all over the south and south west of England. In addition there were a number of registered supporters meaning well over 60 people made the trip to the Midlands. The weather was fine although the prolonged heatwave had thankfully abated.
We have a very strong team at the moment and i am pleased to announce that we topped the medal table again for the second year in succession.
This is a remarkable achievement and shows how far the team has come. A few years ago we couldn’t muster a team of ten people although it has to be said the small team was much easier to manage !
In total the team won 54 medals,we have won more previously but we have a lot of people who win multiple gold medals and that favours us in the calculations when it comes to working out the medal table.
Last year when we won the title for the first time we scored 89 points and this year we scored 102,a solid improvement year on year.
Well done to all to took part !
Next year the games are in Newport Gwent, so it is almost a home games. The bridge crossing will be free by then too so i expect another big team competing just over the border.
